About Betty Penny

Betty Penny is a Windsor-based emerging artist and survivor of traumatic brain injury and fibromyalgia. Following a distinguished career as an award-winning entrepreneur, accountant, minister, non-profit board member, and lifelong mentor, she has transitioned to having an artistic practice transforming personal items into reblended art pieces through adversity into a source of profound creative insight.

Her artwork—reflective paintings or mixed-media pieces that explore light and shadow — weaves together themes of endurance, spiritual depth, and quiet transformation.

Informed by decades of nurturing others through personal, emotional, and existential challenges, Betty’s pieces offer viewers a gentle mirror for their own stories of growth and recovery.

A self-taught artist, with limited lessons from artists in Florida and Windsor, she draws strength from her experiences to create work that celebrates resilience without sentimentality.

Based in Windsor, Ontario, Betty continues to evolve her studio while remaining open to connections in the local and online art communities,

Betty creates pieces that often begin with a feeling, a fragment of a story, or an object with memories and experiences. Through voice, paint, drawing, collage, digital layering, and owned materials, she brings together the ordinary and the extraordinary in ways that honor identity, healing, nostalgia, and the quiet strength of the human spirit.

A brain injury survivor, former award-winning entrepreneur, mentor, and published author, Betty channels her lived experience into artwork that invites viewers to slow down, and to feel the experiences that deeply connect you to her abstracts and multimedia works of art to find peace and soul connections.
